If you're looking to buy your first home using the Help to Buy:Shared Ownership scheme or you'd like to rent a property through one of the rental schemes, Rent-to-Buy or Intermediate Rent, you will need to be registered with Help to Buy South first.
Registering with us is quick, free and easy and the simplest way to do it is online via our website, however if you prefer you can request a paper application pack from us. Once you've completed your application your eligibility can be assessed and you can start to apply for properties to buy or rent.
If you're interested in buying your home using the Help to Buy:Equity Loan scheme the process is slightly different and you are not required to register with us, however if you do you will receive notifications of open days and events where you can find out lots of information and view homes for sale on the scheme. Click here to read how to apply for the scheme.
The registration process
To register with us you'll need to complete a simple application form which will take around 30 minutes to complete. During the application you will tell us about you, your income and your requirements; for example where you would like to live and what type of property you are looking for.
Once we receive your application we will assess the information you've told us and work out your eligibility for the schemes and confirm to you within 4 working days if you are successfully registered with us.
For the application process you will need to know your monthly income and financial outgoings, as well as your National Insurance Number. If you are making a joint application for yourself and a partner you will need the same information for both applicants.
What happens next
Once your application has been approved by us and we've notified you you are registered, its time to start looking for a home.
Visit our website and start your property search; make sure to save your searches as you'll get notifications when properties matching this criteria are added to the website. This is one of the best ways to find out about new homes coming to the market. You'll also receive notifications of open days and events, where you can get free advice and gather information on new homes available and coming soon to the market.
Recent changes to the buying process mean that to get more information about a home or development you're interested in, you must contact the Housing Association or Developer selling or letting that home. To do this, you need to log in to your application, find the property listing and click on the 'register interest' button. This will send your details straight to the seller who can then contact you with more information. Alternatively, contact email addresses and phone numbers can be found on every home listing on the website.
Remember to be really proactive and regularly look online for new homes that have been added and save those popular searches for your dream home!
