Katie and Sean's story

It was the beautiful kitchen/diner which attracted Katie and Sean Durcan to their first privately-owned home together in Berkshire.

Seventeen feet long and flooded with light from two windows and French doors, it's the sort of visually inspiring, open-plan kitchen/diner which is rarely found in an older house.

It's one of many reasons why the couple bought their three-bedroom Ennis home at Bellway's Amen Corner development, off London Road, Binfield, near Wokingham.

Six months on and HR professional Katie (36) and pyrotechnic company director Sean (43) have no regrets about buying their new home.

Katie said: "I do feel really fortunate and thankful that we're in our own home, we have worked hard for this and it's just so lovely to have our own space. I get moments every now and again where I'm sat in the dining area and it dawns on me that this is our house to enjoy and do what we want with."

She added: "It was the kitchen/diner that sold the house to us. There aren't many older houses where you get that, and there's a utility room which is separate, all my family joke that it's my favourite room."

Downstairs is completed by a separate living room and a cloakroom while upstairs are three generously-sized bedrooms - the master with en-suite and a family bathroom.

A bathroom each then?

"No, we both use the same one, otherwise it doubles the cleaning!" laughs Katie.

The couple married in May last year and first lived in a Shared Ownership flat in Wokingham.

"I'm so glad I bought my flat through Shared Ownership as it helped us to get the deposit for the house" adds Katie.

They started looking for their own home in July 2018 and having looked at some older properties first, they soon realised the advantages of a new - build, that's when they came across Bellway's Amen Corner site in Binfield.

Sean said: "We found the design of a modern home suited us better and because we're both so busy, we didn't have the time and energy to buy something that needs doing up."

"We wanted a home that was ready to move into."

The couple received "brilliant" service from Bellway sales advisor Jeanette and customer services manager Terry, helping to make their move as smooth as possible.

Amen Corner is a collection of one and two-bedroom apartments, and two, three, four, and five-bedroom houses in Binfield, with green boulevards throughout the site. Prices range from £399,995 to £569,995.

A brand new on-site primary school is due to open in September 2019.
